Product marking for identification purposes (automotive parts manufacturer)

Problem

This manufacturer made springs for automobiles and had previously used another company's automatic spray guns to mark black springs for identification purposes. However, the problem was that the gun's strong airflow caused the paint to scatter and adhere to the opposite side of the springs.


Solution

Using Lumina's ST-6R (φ1.0) automatic spray gun, which has separate systems for piston air and for atomizing air, the air for atomization was set to 0.05MPa (0.5kgf/cm2), and the distance between springs and guns was set to 50mm. This prevented paint from scattering and enabled clear markings to be produced.

In addition, the marked reduction in scattering improved the work environment.
